Rob Zombie's Halloween

Why Chuck Norris isn't in hell? Because Michael Myers is already there.

I like John Carptenter's version, which owes some of its charm to Italian director Dario Argento. Rob Zombie's take on 30 year old classic has nothing to do with the previous 8 goofy sequels or the franchise. The camera work and the story has been modified enough to stand on its own feet. When the movie begins, the whole atmosphere has nihilistic white trash family values which makes you want to puke. You have the ******* dad, striptease mom and a slutty daughter and a silent boy wearing a KISS T-shirt. It's corny, but it actually works. The language is R-rated throughout the movie and the violence is much more annoying than in any of the 80's slasher movies. There's enough young adolescence sex sequences for Drive-In theaters.

There's also a really great use of 1970's rock classics throughout the movie; Alice Cooper, KISS and Blue Oyster Cult get their fair share of promotion, and you get the idea of Rob Zombie's own influences. Also, the movie has John Carpenter's own music there which just suits the sequences as well as they did back in 1978. (Don't Fear) the Reaper has never been used in more appropriate or inappropriate scenes.

There were a few scenes which were corny, but other than that the movie has a more serious undertone to it, because you as an audience get to witness some scenes with Michael Myer's childhood when he was seemingly normal kid. The actor Daeg Faerch does a fantastic evil kid portrayal. And I really enjoyed seeing one of my favorite actors, Brad Dourif, as the sheriff.

The pale William Shatner mask really is a spooky ****ing rubber mask.

And one more thing, I wouldn't eat popcorn during this movie.

Probably the best horror flick I've seen in a long time.
