I need to give it another chance. I borrowed it from the library last year, and I fell asleep about 30 minutes in and don't remember much. I did watch Eastern Promises a few weeks ago, and thought that was pretty good. Neither of these movies seem like the Cronenberg I came to know through Videodrome, Naked Lunch, The Fly or eXistenz.
HOV: My favorite scene is when his past or hidden nature comes out in the cafe!
EP: Some would think my favorite scene was the bath house scene, but NOT! Mortensen should've hit the jim a bit more before he agreed to do any naked scenes. My favorite scene was the barber chair incident, then later the revenge for the barber shop incident.
I actually watched the third of the LOTR movies where Sauron has the weird eyeproblem and can't see an eye doc. Anyway, I was actually waiting Viggo to beat the crap out of that elfmaiden of his.
Naked Lunch is Cronenberg at his best. Peter Weller's performance is probably very close to what William S. Burrough was in the real life. Laconic paranoid, which is an interesting combination.
