Letter to Dio

Dear Dio:

After many years of posting to your many fan messageboards on the internet, we request your assistance in support of a fair policy for all. The current one is not working to the benefit of every fan. To make a long story short, many Dio fans have been abused or driven away from discussing music about Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow and Elf for a very long time.

While you were busy gardening and recording and touring, which is fine, some stars ceased to shine in the sky. This was a huge waste of opportunity. Instead of endorsing one forum over another there should have been a one site for all credo. Having multiple boards that have the option to ban fans is not freedom of speech. For instance I will describe the unfairness of the two top boards that are for Dio fans.

First the ODS ( Official Dio Site )

This is a board where the new Dio fan can go to post about Dio and his music and other bands etc. Unfortunately there are over 8 moderators. That's correct. Supposedly to deal with the much spam that occurs. Easily one daily capable mod could do that no problem. So why so many? The mods at the ODS also are not Dio fans. They continually post off-topic ad nauseam. Threaten to or do ban fans so they can further there monopoly of the board for their own selfish purposes. One main mod has even resorted to putting a picture of the Canadian seal hunt on all his posts. Since when has Dio music been about politics? Of course if anyone questions any of the mods they get a warning and then a sentence to be banned. Nice huh?

Second is the DuMB ( Dio Unofficial Site )

The hardest of any online Dio forum to either join or post at. It is equivalent to the chess club in junior high school. A bunch of teacher's pets hiding behind the geeks and bragging that they listened to heavy metal back in the day? Now I know that Dio didn't have a lot of tough fans but wasn't heavy metal about dropping out and smoking dope and lookin' for ****ing material? My guess is that the DuMB is a bunch of Village People fans trying to wave the Rainbow flag in your face Dio. Also there is a convicted pedophile connected with the DuMB.

It is time to clean up your act Ronnie and bring some respect to the forums in which you advocate.

Nice one, Dusty.

I wonder if anyone is writing letters to Dio about the DaMB?

You have my support here at the DaMB and none of the other Dio so-calwed message boards.

Dusty, reading your well-written and thought-provoking letter made me remember this one written by another group of concerned Dio fans back in late 2004.

What's sad is that the letter reads as if it were written today. Nothing has changed. Dusty's letter and the one from 2004 should both be sent to Niji and Ronnie.

I remember that one. A combination of coach and how to write a complaint letter led to this one. It's the squeeky wheel that gets the grease. Now where is Zog to defend the DuMB here? We are waiting....

Thank you squiddy. I'd like to read any DuMB member letter to Dio in a response or debate style but the odds are not likely. Cause they can't step outside of their shell. biggrin
