Okay, I give the old Scarecrow props for great sense of Rennaissance (just take a listen to the instrumental Possum Goes to Prague). I really like the album. The band sounds tight, and probably have very solid shows in whatever English countryside pubs they may roam. Blackmore used to have this grumpy aura about him, but if you listen to Wind in the Willows, it's difficult to see a grumpy old man playing that tune. I'm sure he's very happy with Candice.
This album works best as a soundtrack for a good night's eve with a few kegs with good friends.
Under a Violet Moon is a terrific song, which could had been a composition at Camelot court when the knights of the round table watched how Guinevere stripped for them and slipped on the floor and caused Arthur to strangle Merlin. Very catchy.
Blackmore can also play that Spanish guitar like Antonio Banderras pretending to play like Mariachi. Just listen to Spanish Nights (I Remember it Well). Basically, the tune is like Mariachi version of old Yngwie J. Malmsteen piece.
I still have a hard time of listening Candice, because she sounds way too happy. She doesen't have the drama in her voice that Joan Baez or Joni Mitchell have.

Great album for World of Warcraft nerd nights.
Nope! You should check out Joni at the Last Waltz concert sing "Coyote" in San Fran. It might be on Youtube. Best new girl singer is Amy Winehouse and she ain't no Madonna crap. Amazing that the grammys actually awarded her in this day of commercial Spears payola.
Okay just as an after thought. Ever listen to Evanescence? Man what a voice!! The only song I've heard is a wild screaming one. Don't know the title but it goes , I'm feeling darker or going nowhere. Anyway she holds her notes insanely long. It's a modern song but rocks!

I will, man. Joni Mitchell is a fine songwriter and a guitar player. I recently started listening to her old and new releases, and it's refressing to listen in between all the hard rock. Amy Winehouse is something that I actually I've only heard mentioned, but have no idea of her musical style or direction, so I'll do some inquiries on her.

When it's just piano and her I really like the material, but the music is slightly too trendy for me. Their albums are overproduced - very dynamic, but I'd like more acoustics instead of the hard hitting sheer volume. Good band. I heard the producer is the main songwriter of the band.

Cool. The song I meant was called "Going Under". Youtube only has the 3 minute version but there is a 6 minute one that blows it away. The rest of the Evanescence songs I can't get into.
I liked Under A Violet Moon, however I think I would've liked it better had it been called Under A VIOLENT Moon and the music matched the title. LOL Shadow Of The Moon remains my favorite and BN has yet to top it!

I was expecting Norwegian black metal judging by the cover, but I can live with Candice Night's cheerful persona.
