Oh man. I saw the trailers of the TV show when it was first shown on television, but this is actually the first time I saw the whole thing. I bought the DVD version which might have more length than the original serie.
It has probably the most truthsome portrayal of Adolf Hitler as a personality without all the gimmicks of his public emulation of Benito Mussolini. And it's precisely for this reason why the serie makes me uneasy, to actually see his more human side. Moretti plays him naturally without exaggeration. Moretti uses the normal tone which is most likely very accurate to the way Hitler spoke to some of close range staff. Same goes with Sebastian Koch who plays Speer convincingly even though the real life outer appearance isn't very similar. In between the scenes there's actually short interview clips of Speer's kids and that adds almost a documentary type of feeling to it all, which is probably the reason why I felt weird watching it. The monstrosity idealism and the purified Deutchland is not easy to digest and see it through these characters is uncomfortable, because they truly believed in it.
There's just something truly depressing about the whole serie just like with Band of Brothers, which was another fine example of a great war TV mini serie.
