Church vs rock

Do you 'mmericans have any DVD documentaries about these Christian hooligans against rock? I'd like to get my hands on some of this stuff, but I don't know if there's anything official.

I don't know of any DVDs but I do remember a local church rented out the town civic center and advertised all around about offering an informative rock show. Although they hid their true agenda by promoting the event by listing the names of popular metal bands. This would have been around 1984 or so. Needless to say the auditorium was filled with church folk and metal fans as a travelling preacher named Alton Garrison took the podium with his anti-metal slide show.

Metal fans started heading for the exit not soon after it began. No riot thankfully unlike at the Motorhead show at the same venue sometime after.

Here is a mention of him I found on google.

Squid might remember more details but it was a helpful thing because Garrison mentioned some bands I had not heard of so I was exposed to some new music. Although that wasn't what Garrison intended. He seemed really agitated about KISS' "God of Thunder" as I recall.

There was a guy at my high school who was into Christian Rock and was supportive of Alton Garrison and his mission. He was a popular football player. Maiden's "The Number of the Beast" album cover used to also drive these people nuts.
