Anyone else rocking the recently released Katy Perry CD? I've been playing it in the car lately and it is very catchy.
The title track "Teenage Dream" is such a feelgood tune with great lyrics. Katy does a great job conveying the emotions of the song.
The new hit single "Friday Night" is a fun romp with tales of a debauched evening. Lyrics make the song but I have to detract points for the TGIF chanting which I don't think works very well.
As I am not from Cali I don't really get the Snoop Dogg collaboration "Califronia Gurls." Your mileage may vary.
The fourth song "Firework" is one of the best tracks. It is very inspirational. Kind of reminds me of that Garth Brooks song that had the video with the Special Olympics kids in it. Katy really does some great singing on this one.
The next track "Pea****" is scandalous. It is SO brazen. It reminds me of Xtina's "Candyman." It is very groovealicious too. Katy sounds alost ethnic in places on this one. This one grooves like Dio Sabbath's "Turn Up The Night."
The rest of the album is not as good but then I haven't heard the latter songs as much yet so my opinion on them could improve.
I may need to check out her previous release "One of the Boys." I am familiar with her song "Hot n Cold" that she did with Elmo from Sesame Street. That one is very catchy and sticks in your brain for days between hearings. It also has her breakout hit "I Kissed a Girl" and "Ur So Gay."
