TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy announced onstage last night (Sunday, April 6) at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City that his band has been confirmed as the opening act on the upcoming JUDAS PRIEST, HEAVEN AND HELL and MOTÖRHEAD tour, which is scheduled to take place this summer.
"We'll be on first, and we're only gonna have 30 minutes, so we won't be doing any talking," Billy said. "We're just gonna hit you hard bam, bam, bam, bam with everything we've got."
On April 2, Pollstar.com the companion web site of the concert industry's leading trade publication released (and then quickly removed) what appear to be several dates for the tour, which is being promoted by Live Nation.
Although there has been no official confirmation regarding the much-rumored trek, Pollstar.com listed the following TESTAMENT arena dates during the month of August:
Aug. 07 - Bristow, VA @ Nissan Pavilion At Stone Ridge
Aug. 09 - Holmdel, NJ @ PNC Bank Arts Center Aug. 10 - Wantagh, NY @ Nikon At Jones Beach Theater Aug. 13 - Toronto, ON @ The Molson Amphitheatre Aug. 15 - Uncasville, CT @ Mohegan Sun Aug. 16 - Burgettstown, PA @ Post-Gazette Pavilion Aug. 18 - Clarkston, MI @ DTE Energy Music Theatre Aug. 19 - Tinley Park, IL @ First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre

In an interview with "The Classic Metal Show" which aired on March 29, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford stated about the trek, "Live Nation are promoting the tour, and I guess the professional way of dealing with this is to say that Live Nation will be making an official announcement probably a few days from now. But it's difficult to keep that kind of thing quiet 'cause If it does happen, and it's looking very real, it's gonna be one of the biggest metal shows in the States this year. . . You have to wait for the official announcement because it has to be sanctioned by management and the lawyers in the suits and that other rubbish. But if we get what we are hoping to get, I think it's gonna be an absolutely sensational, killer American tour 'cause it won't happen anywhere else in the world, this lineup. It'll just be for the States."

Its official: Heaven and Hell to tour US with Judas Priest
After weeks of speculation, Live Nation has put together a killer package that is bound to go down as the heavy metal event of 2008 - Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, Motorhead, and Testament will be touring together for the first time.
Dubbed 'The Metal Masters Tour,' the sixteen date U.S. trek kicks off August 6th at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey.
Judas Priest will be supporting their epic concept album, 'Nostradamus,' which will arrive on June 17th via Epic Records, and tells the tale of the renowned 16th century prophet. A few tracks from 'Nostradamus' will make their in-concert debut on 'The Metal Masters Tour,' but the majority of Priest's set list will include some of metal's all-time classics, as well as fan favorites that span the quintet's entire career. Without a doubt, this will be one of Priest's most powerful sets ever. As a 'sneak peak treat' to fans starved for a musical taster, the first cut off the new album will make its world premiere debut as exclusive free MP3 download starting today exclusively at www.livenation.com/judaspriest.
Heaven & Hell will be supporting the release of The Rules Of Hell, a five-CD boxed set available on July 22nd from Rhino Records which features re-mastered versions of all four Dio-era Black Sabbath albums ('Heaven and Hell,' 'Mob Rules,' 'Live Evil,' and 'Dehumanizer') in a deluxe package with new liner notes.
Perennial road rats Motorhead will be touring strictly for the love of it, offering a fan favorites set spanning more than three decades worth of molar-rattling metal. Motorhead's last album was 2006's 'Kiss of Death' (released via Sanctuary Records), their 19th studio set of their long and highly influential career. A new album is currently in the works as well, which is currently being recorded at their old pal Dave Grohl's studio with a August release date targeted. Lemmy blairs out, "Here it comes everybody, the test of your Metalness in 2008 and the years to come! Come one come all and be abused!"
Rounding out the line-up will be legendary thrash metal titans Testament, whose new album, 'The Formation of Damnation,' (April 29th,) displays Testament as the quintessential modern heavy metal band, whose experience and accumulated skill allows them to attack with reserves of anger, energy and finesse that make them more powerful than ever. Lead singer Chuck Billy says, "Uniting these bands is the heavy metal event of generations. We are so proud to be a part of it."
Although all four bands may represent different subgenres of heavy metal, all four have one thing in common they have stuck to their stylistic guns through thick and thin, and have remained true to the metal form. And soon, band and fan will be united as one on 'The Metal Masters Tour.'
"As ever, we look forward to screaming out loud with our metal maniac fans when we hit the road," enthuses Priest singer, Rob Halford. "Thank you once again for your devotion and support. The Priest is back!"

JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford spoke to Greg Prato of Billboard.com about the bands' first "The Metal Masters Tour" this summer, which will also feature HEAVEN AND HELL, MOTÖRHEAD and TESTAMENT.
"We insisted on a classic metal package which is what we've got I will enjoy seeing all the bands," Halford tells Billboard.com.
As previously reported, JUDAS PRIEST plans to perform its upcoming album, "Nostradamus", in its entirety during a fall headlining tour, but the band will debut some of the new songs during "Metal Masters". Starting today (April 21), fans can download the title track for free through the Live Nation site.
Halford promises the "Metal Masters" sets will feature "a combination of PRIEST classics including songs from our catalog never before played live."
RONNIE JAMES DIO (HEAVEN AND HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has updated his tour schedule as follows:
May 27 - Birmingham, UK - Academy (with GIRLSCHOOL) 28 - London, UK - Astoria (with Girlschool) 31 - Karmoy, Norway - Kopervik Festival
June 2 - Malmo, Sweden - KB Halle (with FATAL SMILE) 3 - Copenhagen, Denmark - Amager Bio (with Fatal Smile) 4 - Stockholm, Sweden - Debaser (with Fatal Smile) 6 - Oulu, Finland - Teatria 7 - Lahti, Finland - Water & Rock Festival
One more date there: May 30th, Oslo, Norway at Sentrum Scene.
I'll be there since I've missed his last visit to Norway.
What's interesting is that they have put him on a bigger venue that he usual plays at when coming here as a solo artist. He usually plays at Rockefeller, which takes about 1200, but now he will play at Sentrum Scene, with a capacity of 1800. Guess it must be a renewed interest in him because of the Heaven and Hell-project?

Hello Dionorway. Now that's a handle that I haven't seen for a long time.
