That's cool, Squid. I have never seen that version of the OFFICIAL board before. I think it was closed when I first started reading Dio online forums.

Some of the others here have posted about how Ronnie's people shut it down because some fans had disagreements.

I first joined the DuMB back in the day as I was seeking some answers about early recordings from Ronnie's career and thought that might be a place to ask. Once I was there a short while there started to be some strangeness with the admin and the mods. I think iBeaux was part of the DuMB too at that point.

It was around that time that the OFFICIAL board was relaunched. I joined there and after some further strangeness I ended up resigning from the DuMB. The OFFICIAL board 2.0 was cool for awhile and then Pip and iBeaux got shown the door and it went downhill from there.

I like how the first offcial board used the red and black with yellow type design. I think it had a nice look to it. If you click the forums you can see the post titles and names of some of the members. I only recognized iBeaux, TeRRy and Vegetaman as people still around.

Check out this recent posts page. TeRRy was active that day. Scroll down to the bottom for a rather long post that he recently reposted to AMD.

All before my time....

And to think, I found it by accident because of some guy that was pm-ing me on a Nine Inch Nails board.

I had two hand-me-down Dio CDs at that time and a copy of Heaven and Hell on cassette.

(of course it helped that I already knew somebody at the DMB...)

One of the old Official board versions, TeRRy had some delusional fixation on some post count contest. Apparently he thought a user's post count placed them in some special group where they were going to get a huge prize (say NO to crack!). Fukkin Ken started posting loads of song lyrics, then TeRRY had to out do him and started doing the same. Then the word got out that Ken's "Sapphire" name was behind the board and Ken had been given creative control of DIO's Official site which caused TeRRy to go into a frenzy. It could've been another board version but it was right when they moved from the old DIO Chat to the message board style for fans.

TeRRy got a prize alright, he was banned from the site eventually so it may have been the board version after that one because when he came back, like the troll he is, he started using all his dopey aliases. Like GOD, ZeusJupiter, Jesus's Bathrobe, Killmaster, Dragonmaster....speaks in volumes that he could no longer post as TeRRy...LOL

I think the one you are thinking of, was a couple versions back from that one. It was the old non-graphics type BBS. It also had to option, which I liked, to email you the messages, allowing you to post, and read, but NOT have to log on physically, kind of like Yahoo, etc.

You also had to enter your Fan Club # to get special areas, and chats with Ronnie, etc..

This version, I believe is the one BEFORE ken took over. I remember he 'accidently' emailed me using the BBS admin account....and let the cat out of the bag...he swore me to secrecy, but that didn't last long...as he started messing with all of Terry's various accounts, banning them, deleting them, etc..

...of course Terry was having about two coronary's aday over that!

Yeah whenever and whatever version it was hilarious. Thats why those of us who were around to witness TeRRy's many attempts to cause havoc among DIO fans and ruin the Official DIO boards have never given his "greatest Dio fan" claims much attention. He's one of the biggest trolls in DIO fan history!
