Breast Feeding: What age is too old?

Someone sent me this video and after checking it out I found there's a good number of people breast feeding their children past what has been considered an acceptable age.

Is this woman crazy and her actions reprehensible - What say you?

I think that is a odd with that woman still breast feeding her 5 year-old.

Usually the thing that puts a stop to breast feeding is when the baby's teeth start to come in.  smile

Most of my children were Breastfed for severaly years, and I can tell you that the ones that were, had MUCH less ear infections, colds, etc.

Several had to stop early due to problems...illness of the mom, surgery, that caused her to stop lactating, etc, ...and those children definitely had more sickness...even later in life.

I love milk (cow), but we, as humans weren't really designed to drink that milk, especially later in life, and human milk is the only milk we were really designed to drink. I would drink it, if it was available and not so bloody expensive. I did drink quite a bit, with all my wives, especially the ones that had plenty of excess milk, using it in cereal, cooking, etc. It tastes almost like Goat's milk, I guess, alot sweeter than cow milk, and alot less fat. I never liked warm milk, so I prefered it to be refrigerated. My 1st, 3rd, and 4th wife, continued to pump at work, and bring home for the little ones, and it worked out quite well. They seemed to enjoy lactating for alot longer too...as their boobs stayed so much fuller, and firmer, longer, and I think it's just more of a natural thing to do, etc...

Our society, unfortunately has a stigma of breastfeeding a child too long, etc. but I really don't see a problem with it. I'm trying to remember how long Cari (my current wife) breastfed my youngest (Jackson) but I seem to think he was 3 years or so...but will ask her tomorrow...she has a better memory than I do, etc.

That's very interesting, mate - and you're right. There is a stigma attached - unfortunately there are many who are too caught up in the sexual function of breasts. This leads to inevitable prudish concerns by conservatives. I remember reading a story of a woman in New York who was arrested because she admitted that once she had an orgasm whilst breastfeeding - I couldn't believe that (I think it was eventually quashed, but I'm not too sure).

Having said that, I'm still a little uncomfortable being in a room with a breastfeeding woman, especially if I know her well - but I sorta had a repressed upbringing.

More milk for all, I say!

Yeah...it's a shame that most of us have such screwed up 'upbringing' that we are uncomfortable at such natural things...but though, it's been such a bloody long time ago... smile.gif

...I do seem to remember feeling the same way. After my first child, all that went away, and I don't really give it a second thought now...
